Since completing a PhD in English at Cornell University in 2012, I have taught courses on animals, literary theory, and the 18th century at The College of Wooster (see my faculty page). During the 2019–2020 academic year, I was in residence at UCLA as a Burkhardt Fellow, thanks to generous support from the American Council of Learned Societies (see my ACLS fellow page). While conducting research at UCLA, I largely completed a book called Before the Primates: Animals, Metamorphoses, and Natural History, 1549—1758.
